It’s been a fortnight. Since I took on the mantle of being an ambassador for Kerala. The Miss Kerala tiara has boosted my alter ego. I am all raring to go. And to walk a path less travelled. Never imagined all these ever and, more so before I finally made my mind to enter the pageant.
Life has suddenly become hectic. The initial few days I didn’t even get time to realize the enormity of my achievement. The morning after I was rushed to a television appearance and then a series of interviews… and interviews. Day 2 there was more to follow up…driving studio to studio. I was at Manorama News at 6am, make up, hair, a breakfast show and I was off to another, 30 kms away at India Vision, then back to Manorama for Vanitha. I was loving the attention, yet it was tedious, and it dawned on me that my life has taken a new course.
It’s a new awakening too. I have been attending a series of events post the victory. Meeting celebrities, achievers, sportspersons and people from various fields. I am taken seriously I guess, the words I speak or my actions are scrutinized.
It’s been a learning experience and every single day I am absorbing something new. And it’s all very enriching. I am reminded of a meeting of a social organization – Nanma- initiated by former Police Commissioner. The ideology of this organization is heart warming and touching. They offer help to any one who comes asking for it. All kind of help. At times, the needy aren’t even aware from where the help is coming from.
What touched me most is that people who are successful, and having a position in society are the ones associated with this organization and they are ready to serve with their time and effort – just to make a difference in what ever way possible to the society. The society that has given them so much and to serve the less fortunate.
And yes, this was the very theme, identified for me to by the Miss Kerala Foundation- to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in whatever way I can.
I have been associated with a core group of yoing people through a forum called MAD- yes, and it stands for you guessed it right- MAKE A DIFERENCE!
Today I am also able to think on a wider platform, and with help from fellow youngsters I do hope to make a small difference to our surroundings.
And, to work in that direction I would need a lot of support and encouragement from like minded people and the young of Kerala, and I hope it would be a great experience to interact, and share ideas and viewpoints.
